Most of us have heard of it, but not many of us live in it. It seems unnatural, impossible, and controversial.
Grace.
We’ve generally been taught that there’s no such thing as something for nothing. We have to do the right things to get right results. Right?
The idea of grace, of receiving something we do not deserve, seems upside down. But as I’ve said before, the Kingdom of God is an upside down kingdom. Grace not only defines Christianity, but sets it apart from all other religions.
In the weeks to come, we’re going to explore this idea of grace. What is it really? What does it mean for our everyday lives?
To tell you the truth, I see a lot of misunderstanding about it. I see people missing this gift. I understand. Grace is both simple and completely accessible, and yet perplexing. How do we pursue something that essentially cannot be pursued?
For those of us who follow Christ, we may see grace as a gift we received at salvation, as something in our past. But grace is much bigger. There is past grace, present grace and future grace. Let’s not miss what that means for our lives.
Author Philip Yancey states that “Grace is the most perplexing, powerful force in the universe, and, I believe, the only hope for our twisted, violent planet.”
So join us as we discover in God’s own Words, why it truly is “Amazing Grace."
