Jamerson Bryant joined the Blue Ridge Campus Safety Team out of a sense of obligation, feeling he needed to serve somewhere.
But what he found there was something unexpected: community.
He had grown up in a church where most people were family. When he came to Blue Ridge, it seemed too big for that.
“When I wasn’t serving, I just saw [random] people,” he said. “But as I started serving, I found an actual family … We watch football together, hang out together... God has definitely blessed me with an awesome group of people.”
The safety team meets together before serving to pray and share life together.
“We’re serving...so we all can glorify God,” Jamerson said.
He and his wife Crystal, who serves in Kids Community, have two small children, so it was natural for Jamerson to be concerned about making our church a safe place.
The Safety Team has begun taking steps to undergo more training and set up more processes, especially with the new addition to the building and more rooms to cover.
“We can't sit back and be stagnant,” Jamerson said. “There’s a lot of ground to cover.”
His faith isn’t stagnant either.
“My relationship with God is growing everyday,” he said.
